Moscow Court Finds Google Guilty Over Content Access Violations
The Tagansky District Court found the US technology company guilty in multiple administrative cases, resulting in total fines of 19 million rubles (about $250,560), as stated by reports.
The court said the cases involved failures to comply with procedures related to limiting access to content deemed subject to restriction under Russian law.
The latest penalties add to a growing list of financial sanctions imposed on Google in Russia, including an earlier widely reported judgment valued at 91.5 quintillion rubles, highlighting the escalating legal disputes between the company and Russian authorities.
In recent years, several major foreign tech platforms have faced restrictions in Russia over compliance issues. These include X, Meta Platforms services such as Facebook and Instagram, as well as LinkedIn and YouTube, many of which have faced blocking or access limitations in Russia for failing to meet local regulatory requirements, according to reports.
